Italian Art is on the Table

Matilda di Canossa

The most precious and creative part of our business is designing new fabric collections inspired by Italian art. We draw inspiration from the Middle Ages, starting with fascinating stories like that of Matilda of Canossa, a remarkable medieval woman, among many others.

The fabrics are conceived and designed by us, led by our exceptional designer, Lucia Bertaggia. Lucia, an architect and mother of four beautiful children, relocated from Milan to Indianapolis ten years ago, and her creativity is truly superb.

The fabrics are meticulously printed in Italy using the finest materials such as pure linen, as well as simple yet high-quality options like organic cotton. Our focus is always on natural fabrics, ensuring that the end product has exceptional aesthetic value and quality.

Matilda di Canossa was a distinguished noblewoman who lived during the 1000-1100 A.D. and ruled over a vast territory encompassing Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, and Lombardy.

The admiration for her stems from her ability to navigate a turbulent era, making a positive impact on complex political challenges in a male-dominated society. But most of all we appreciate her profound passion for the arts, which resonates deeply with us.

Erbe” draws inspiration from the portal of the Pieve, nestled in Toano, a small town in the rustic countryside of Emilia Romagna. The church’s facade exudes simplicity and functionality, with clean lines crafted from local stone. Amidst this structural solidity, a hidden gem emerges—an intricately adorned archway gracing the portal, featuring an elegant scalloped bas-relief carved in light stone.”Erbe” elegantly combines the classic scallop pattern with the delightful essence of Italian herbs for a charming and timeless touch to your table!.

Gratiae

The most precious and creative part of our business is designing new fabric collections inspired by Italian art. We draw inspiration from the Middle Ages, starting with fascinating stories like that of Matilda of Canossa, a remarkable medieval woman, among many others.

Gratiae” is inspired by an exquisite frieze or bas-relief on the upper edge of the baptismal font at Canossa Castle. Medieval art abounds with symbolism, and in this context, the daisy embodies the purity, simplicity, and joy of those partaking in the rite. In “Gratiae” this theme undergoes a contemporary reinterpretation, harmonizing with the rich color palette of a mature autumn season. We take delight in admiring the untouched, prepared table’s pristine beauty while anticipating the joy of shared moments during the holiday season!
